On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Italy, the Group was recognized “for its extraordinary consistency and large-scale impact in promoting FSC®-certified products.” The award strengthens a partnership spanning more than twenty years and comes in the year of Sofidel’s 60th anniversary
Sofidel, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of paper for hygienic and household use, best known for its Regina brand, received an award from FSC® Italy yesterday in Florence in recognition of its contribution to promoting responsible forest management.
The award ceremony took place during “Radici Comuni,” the celebratory event marking the first 25 years of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Italy, the NGO that promotes the responsible management of forests and related supply chains. A key event for the forest and wood supply chain, the day also featured the presentation of the “Radici Comuni” Awards, created by FSC® Italy to recognize organizations leading the sustainable transition in Italy.
The award was accepted by Riccardo Balducci, Group Sustainability Director of the Sofidel Group, and presented by FSC® International Director General Subhra Bhattacharjee, together with FSC® Italy President Maria Rita Gallozzi and Director Giuseppe Bonanno. During the same day, Riccardo Balducci also took part as a speaker in a talk dedicated to the bioeconomy and the development of forest product supply chains.
The award citation reads:
“To Sofidel S.p.A. (FSC®-certified company, FSC®-C017535) for its extraordinary consistency and large-scale impact in promoting FSC®-certified products, a testament to its well-established and forward-looking leadership. A long-standing partner of FSC® Italy and a member of FSC® International, Sofidel has distinguished itself as a pioneer in integrating the ‘Forests For All Forever’ brand into its product packaging, bringing the value and message of responsible forest management directly into the homes of millions of consumers. With a virtuous and forward-looking vision, Sofidel reaffirms its role as a cornerstone in promoting environmental sustainability on a global scale.”
“This award is a great honor for us and belongs to the entire Group,” said Riccardo Balducci, Group Sustainability Director at Sofidel. “Twenty-four years of collaboration with FSC® demonstrate that integrating responsible forest management into a business model is possible and that doing so consistently over time creates a real impact. Continuing along this path is an essential commitment for us and one of the fundamental pillars of our ecological transition journey and our efforts to promote consumption models aligned with our long-term sustainability goals.”
“Celebrating FSC® Italia’s 25th anniversary means honoring a journey built on shared people, vision, and courage,” commented Maria Rita Gallozzi, President of FSC® Italy.“The ‘Radici Comuni’ awards and Sofidel’s commitment demonstrate that responsible forest management is not an abstract concept, but a daily practice brought to life by companies and communities that have been able to innovate and lead the way. Looking to the future, these organizations represent the essential starting point for addressing the major challenges of the ecological transition and combating the climate crisis, by building increasingly ethical and resilient supply chains.”
The partnership between Sofidel and FSC® Italy has deep roots. It began in 2002 and has steadily grown stronger over the years, making the Group one of the organization’s longest-standing and most recognizable partners.
One hundred percent of the virgin pulp sourced by Sofidel is certified according to recognized forest certification schemes, with 95% coming from FSC®-certified forests and FSC® Controlled Wood sources (data: H1 2026).
This commitment to the responsible sourcing of raw materials is part of a broader sustainability strategy that has also earned Sofidel an A- rating from CDP for forest management, with the highest score of A for sustainable timber management (Timber).
